The Net

19 Sept 1991

Today was pretty exciting. First I just ran around with Dan and we did some errands. We actually ate some pretty healthy food for lunch (salad & a soy burger – very unusual here). We were walking through this sort of out-of-the-way square, at an end where nothing was happening (it almost seemed deserted), and these 2 guys were crossing towards us and Dan said immediately, "they’re American." I had just been looking at them and thinking that they looked really familiar and before I could figure out why, they asked me, "Do you go to Binghamton?" I don’t now either of their names, but one of them seemed familiar as a friend-of-a-friend-of-a-friend kind of situation and the other one was in one of the video classes that I was a Teacher’s Assistant for last Spring (I think that’s why they recognized me)

We talked to them for a little while. They are studying in England but their classes don’t start for a little while so they were traveling. They’ve been to Greece, Madrid, Barcelona, Munich, Salzburg, Prague, and I don’t remember where else, but it got me really psyched to travel! It was very strange to run into them like that. Quite a net!
