We went to Krakow. The city was good, but the weather sucked (rainy) and the bureaucracy was even worse (worse than Prague, even). It wasnt much like a vacation except that we had new things to look at. One good thing was that we could communicate with people because Czech & Polish sound very similar. |
Here's some pictures I took while I was there. Click to see the full picture:
The town square first thing in the morning. The huge building is the national museum.
Daniel standing in front of Wawel Castle.
A dragon sculpture. Supposed it actually "breathed" fire every couple of minutes, but I never saw it.
Another shot of the Wawel Castle. Very gothic.
Frantic pigeons in the square. It's hard to believe that this is the same place as this morning!
The town square, the center, was pretty cool, we mostly just walked around there. All day Sunday there was a group of people playing Andean Folk Music. Another weird phenomenon was that people were buying cups of stuff to feed the pigeons and the pigeons were just crawling all over each other to get it. I saw one small girl reach into the pile of crawling pigeons in front of her, grab a pigeon by the wing, and toss it over her shoulder! It was crazy.
Also theres more good food in Poland than there is in Czechoslovakia.
Heres a map they gave us at the hotel we stayed in. It was very handy, it was all we needed, pretty much. Small town (or, at least, the part that we wanted to see).
